Pancreatic Secretion

Hypoglycaemic Agents

Insulin: Moves Glucose into Cell (Skeletal muscle, Liver) via GLUT-4 transporter. (Glucose Uptake)

→ Oxidation of Glucose to ATP (Glycolysis)

→ Glucose to Glycogen stores (Glycogen synthesis), Inhibit Glycogen Breakdown

→ Glucose to fat (Triglyceride = Glycerol + fatty acids)

→ Decrease Gluconeogenesis

Insulin Release

Normal - Biphasic: Secretion rises rapidly(within 15 mins) after consumption of carbs. Drops. Rises slightly again at 45mins.

Untitled

T1: No insulin secretion

T2: Initial secretion not present. Equivalent to second secretion is present.
